Carrefour Européen du Patchwork 2024, Vale d'Argent, France

About the event 

Considered amongst the top 3 events in the world, Carrefour Europeen du Patchwork is held in the villages of Vale d'Argent in Alsace. The Amish movement is said to have originated here. The exhibition venues are spread over the 4 villages of Val d'Argent, namely Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines, Lièpvre and Rombach-le-Franc. Historical buildings, festival halls or churches are the venues for the 4 days celebrating textile arts and patchwork.

The 2023 event saw more than 35 exhibitions by international artists, 1,000 works of art, 29 workshops, and a merchant space of 4,500 Square metres. 

The event attracted close to 15,000 visitors.

For the 2024 event, Entry passes start at € 16.00 for a day.

Quilt show

The exhibition will have works of artists on display and a theme based, jury selected quilts from the competition.  

The competition theme is “Oceans”. From the organisers –

“….The theme invites you to depict your own vision of the ocean …. Tell us about the wide sea you may dream of crossing…Beyond the word “ocean”, we are interested in the idea of water- a source of life…..”

Participation deadline is May 25, 2023 at 12 P.M. Paris time. 

Entry fee is €25 per entry. The competition is open to quilters across the world.

Quilt size should be 80 X 120 cm (width x height). Only 30 Quilts will be chosen by the Jury which will get exhibited during the festival.

Learning

The workshops for 2024 are announced. There will be 29 interesting classes of varying duration, languages and faculty from across the globe.

Class fees starts at € 40.00 for a 3 hour session . Some of the learning sessions will have an additional cost for kit. You can check all the learning sessions here.

Market

Commercial areas have free access. The Commercial area will be located at Val Expo - Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. More than 50 stalls are expected to go up.
